Armstrong to Host Inaugural Domingo Universitario Workshop

(November 25, 2011) Armstrong's Hispanic Outreach & Leadership at Armstrong (HOLA) program will host Domingo Universitario, an inaugural workshop focusing on helping Latino families prepare their students for college, from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday, December 4 at the Armstrong Center, 13040 Abercorn Street.

Domingo Universitario, or University Sunday, is free and open to parents of students currently enrolled in 10th, 11th or 12th grade. The event will provide in-depth, hands-on sessions to help families prepare for college admissions, complete financial aid applications and explore various scholarship opportunities.

“Too many Latino students are not enrolling in college because of the extra challenges they face as first generation college students,” said HOLA program director Melody Rodriguez. “The HOLA program was created to help Latinos accomplish their dream of earning a college degree. We make college accessible by sponsoring annual workshops to help Latino families gain knowledge about college admissions and financial aid planning.”

A Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Registration starts at 8 a.m. To register, call the HOLA office at 912.344.2652 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Please note that space is limited. Advance registration is recommended.
