Free Lecture and Writing Workshop by Acclaimed Chilean Author
(Feb. 5, 2015) — Armstrong's Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy, along with the Gender studies program, will host the award-winning Chilean author Pía Barros in the Student Union's Ogeechee Theatre on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Barros will deliver a lecture in Spanish, accompanied by an English transcription displayed on a large screen, about her latest work, a series of short story anthologies designed to raise awareness about violence against women and children in her native Chile. This event is free and open to the public. The anthologies will be available for review at Armstrong's Lane Library prior to the event.
Following the lecture, Barros will conduct a writing workshop from 4-5:15 p.m. in Gamble Hall, room 106. All advanced, Spanish-speaking students, staff, faculty and alumni are invited to join this flash fiction workshop that will be conducted solely in Spanish.
