Military Outreach Center Open House and Ribbon Cutting

(June 20, 2012) Armstrong will hold an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Military Outreach Center, which is housed in the Memorial College Center. The Armstrong community is welcome to attend on Wednesday, June 27, from noon-1:30p.m. in the MCC.

The Military Outreach Center provides a designated space for military and veteran students to network, study, and relax on the Savannah campus. The center is also open to family members of the military and includes computers and printers, a refrigerator and microwave, and meeting and social space. For many military students, especially those currently based at Hunter Army Airfield and Ft. Stewart, the Military Outreach Center provides a welcoming and supportive environment to spend time during breaks between classes and to meet other military students.

Armstrong has been named a military friendly school by G.I. Jobs magazine, a designation based on the results of an extensive survey of more than 8,000 U.S. colleges and universities that recognizes schools that are doing the most to support active military and military veterans. Armstrong is ranked in the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide for its military friendly status and is currently listed in the 2012 Guide to Military Friendly Schools.

Armstrong is also part of a network of universities that guarantees transferability of credits for military students, provides in-state tuition for members of the military and their families, and offers college credit for military experience. The Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) consortium of colleges and universities is dedicated to helping military students and their families earn college degrees.
