John “Toby” Browne Sr.

As a player, instructor and mentor, Toby Browne has made an indelible legacy on Peach State golf. In 1968, while attending Armstrong, he won the Georgia State Amateur Championship. He went on to become a Class “A” member of the PGA. He currently serves as the president of the PGA Georgia East chapter and on the board of directors for the Georgia PGA and the Savannah Junior Golf Association. He has also been inducted into the Armstrong Athletic Hall of Fame in honor of his achievements both on and off the golf course. Over the years, he has been recognized as the PGA Georgia Chapter Professional of the Year and the PGA Georgia East Chapter Professional of the Year. He and his wife, Frances, an Armstrong graduate, have two grown children.
