Dr. Richard Bunbury is a 1977 graduate of Armstrong, earning his Bachelors of Arts in music. Since then, Dr. Bunbury has gone on to do great things in music, mainly in the Boston Area. He is currently a Lecturer in Music at Boston University, teaching in the Music Education and Musicology Departments.
Dr. Bunbury has conducted several Boston-area choral and instrumental ensembles, as well as being an orchestral conducting fellow at the University of Hartford. He serves as a music critic for the Boston Musical Intelligencer and ArtsFuse.org. Dr. Bunbury also has published numerous articles in a number of journals, including The American Organist, The Encyclopedia of 20th Century Musicians and New Grove Dictionary of American Music and Musicians. His research interests include the history of music education, assessment and curriculum, and the pedagogy of music history.
He credits Armstrong with giving him the background, foundation, and experience to have gone on and made a national reputation in his areas of activity, including a full-time teaching position in a major research university with the prestigious School of Music at Boston University.
