Amy Gaster is a Savannah native who graduated from Armstrong in 2006, and currently lives on Tybee Island. She and her sister Carrie Efird founded Tybee Vacation Rentals (TVR) in the fall of 2000 as a small, family business. TVR has grown from managing a handful of properties to over 170 rentals and 40+ employees, making TVR one of the largest, most well-respected vacation rental companies on Tybee. Ms. Gaster has served as Chairman of the Tybee Island Tourism Council of the Savannah Chamber for the last three years and the TITC Board for 10 years, also serving on the Visit Savannah Board as Tybee’s representative.
Ms. Gaster co-founded the Tybee Island Association of Rental Agents (TIARA), in order to create a positive working relationship with other local property managers and the city on issues relating to vacation rentals, economic development, and tourism. She has presented educational sessions at national conferences of the Vacation Rental Managers Association and serves on the VRMA Public Relations & Communications Committees. She was a founding member of TybeeFest, a nonprofit group formed to bring off-season events such as Tybee Pirate Fest and Tybee Mardi Gras festivals to the island and sustain them as successful annual events.
Ms. Gaster graduated from the inaugural class of Leadership Tybee in 2011, and successfully implemented a team fundraising campaign for the Tybee Post Theater, raising more than $77,000. In 2003, she received the Savannah Business Journal’s “40 under 40” Award, recognizing top young business achievers in the Savannah region.
Ms. Gaster says she proudly studied English Literature, Latin, and Philosophy at Armstrong, and never took a single business class in school. She enjoys traveling to Europe, time on the water, and celebrating life with family and friends.
